Technologies are ubiquitous in our daily interactions often mediating our relationships with other people. How can technologies be designed to support a genuine feeling of connection between users? This project explores what we mean by mediated genuine connection as it is embodied in art and design artefacts. It explicated design strategies and supporting psychological theories employed by artists and designers when creating systems fostering the feeling of genuine connection.
It reviews how these strategies are implemented and what challenges emerge when using these strategies. This review aims to inspire designers and artists to explore new approaches for supporting a feeling of connection through the work they create.
