Lucid-dreaming practice offers many benefits for lucid dreamers, allowing them to experience self-transcendent emotions and empowerment. Flying is frequent type of a lucid dream that can bring about such benefits. VR offers an intriguing opportunity to simulate a transcendent dream, without requiring a immersants to learn how to lucid dream. In this project we have explored the potential of VR to afford a virtual transcendent dream-like experience. Additionally we have evaluated the role that embodiment plays in achieving the benefits of transcendent dream by comparing a regular joystick interface with a more embodied leaning interface for locomotion in VR.
I performed mentoring role for junior colleague, Pinyao. I have assisted with data analysis, literature review, and presentation of results.
